Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation was established in 1978 as a non-profit initiative by the Arab Bank, and was based on three pillars: "Leadership Thought, Literature and Arts, and Innovation".
The Foundation has launched several awards in order to support various fields of scientific research, such as:
Abdul Hameed Shoman Prize for Arab Researchers 1982
Abdul Hameed Shoman Fund to Support Scientific Research 1999
Abdul Hameed Shoman Cultural Forum 1986
Education and Science Program 2014
"Ibdaa" award 1988 and continued until 2003
Abdul Hameed Shoman Innovation Award 2017
In addition, the Foundation worked to promote the culture of cinema, through the Cinema Program, which was established in 1989 with the aim of promoting the culture of cinema and filmmaking socially and culturally.
It also launched the Grants & Innovation Program in 2014, and it includes two programs:
1. The Arts and Literature Program within the following sectors:
Performing Arts
Audio Visual
Festivals and Cultural Activities
Cultural National Heritage
Artistic and Literary Spaces
Library Development Support
2. The Thought Leadership Program within the following sectors:
Scientific Research Conferences
Scientific Activities
Scientific Spaces and Educational Applications
Youth Forums and Debates
