The Pulitzer Center

Updated: Apr 22, 2022

The Pulitzer Center is an American news media organization founded in 2006 that sponsors independent reporting on global issues. It is now the largest single source of money for global enterprise reporting—and the only one incorporating this reporting into comprehensive educational programs.

The Pulitzer Center raises awareness of underreported global issues through direct support for quality journalism and a unique program of education and public outreach.

The result is sustained reporting and outreach on topics that range from land rights, climate change, global health, and fragile states to justice and women and children.

It supports nearly 200 reporting projects a year, in partnership with more than 150 news organizations.

It organizes 700 plus events a year with K-12 schools, colleges, and the general public, and has deep partnerships with 35 plus colleges and universities.

It also awards $2 million in support to journalists through direct grants and participation in its educational programming every year.
